• Easy As ASL

  

  

  In summer 2020, I was inspired to take up embroidery again. I was inspired by sets of things, such as alphabets, that would make good quilt squares. Each of these letters was hand-embroidered by me and machine pieced into the quilt. By the time this work was completed, it was no longer 2020! I decided to capture the time span of work in the quilting.

  This quilt draws on traditional conventions of redwork to present the most frequented online media sites in the US during 2020, juxtaposing the data-driven online world with slow textile traditions.
